In a shocking event that caused a wave of outrage in Poland, doctor Tomasz Solecki from the University Clinical infirmary in Krakow was attacked by the patient and did not survive. The National wellness Fund has besides prepared a draft amendment to the Medical Rescue Ordinance, which proposes mandatory equipment for ambulance teams with knife-proof vests. The task is presently in consultation.
In connection with events in Krakow, doctors and patients throughout Poland express outrage and compassion for relatives of the deceased doctor. The medical authority calls for a firm reaction from the state authorities to the killing of the doctor and called for procedures to be introduced to safe infirmary wards and clinics.
