This is the altar of our homeland, and for contemporary Poles it is besides a mirror, which tells us what we must do with our freedom – president Karol Nawrocki said present during the celebration of the centenary of the establishment of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Warsaw celebration was attended by, among others, Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
– We are free, independent and sovereign. We stand here aware of what freedom and sovereignty is – said the president at the Marshal Józef Piłsudski Square in Warsaw Karol Nawrocki during the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment The Unknown Soldier's grave. He stressed that independency and care for the freedom of homeland are born in the heart of all Pole, and our goal is to live in the following decades in freedom and security. “For this freedom we meet here present and let us stay faithful forever,” said the President.
As he added, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is the altar of our homeland, and for contemporary Poles it is besides a mirror in which we look. “This is besides a mirror that tells us what we request to do with our freedom and how to make certain that no more conflict plates appear on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the following decades, and no more unknown and celebrated soldiers were mentioned on them,” stressed Karol Nawrocki.
The president stressed that this is simply a task for him and for our government. – How can the Polish Army be the strongest army in the European Union? On our side, it is the work to spend 5 percent of GDP on armaments, which is what times and what is happening on the global phase are forcing us to do – indicated the head of the armed forces. At the same time, he pointed out that all soldier and officer must hear from the president and the government “you are a hero of our modernity”. – Polish soldier needs equipment, good training; he needs to feel surrounded by care," said the President.
Margaret Kidawa-Błońska, the talker of the Senate, besides took part in the celebration, who emphasized the function of women mourning over the years of fallen Polish soldiers. – The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier stands at a sea of tears shed by mothers, wives, brides and sisters who frequently could not even bury their loved ones – said the politician. She besides referred to Jadwiga Zarugiewiczowa, Konstanty's mother, who died in the conflict of Zadwórz. It was in 1925 that she indicated a coffin with the ashes of a soldier to remainder in the rising GNZ. – We want to face the heroes of the battles mentioned on the boards placed on the pillars of GNZ, but we should do everything so that not a fresh name can come here. In order to do so, Poland must be strong and united in deterring enemies, so that no 1 has to relive Mrs. Jadwiga's pain – ended Kidawa-Błońska.
In turn, the national defence minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz pointed out during his speech that GNŻ symbolized something more than the burial site, the land that was brought here and the blood that was shed for homeland. “It symbolizes the steadfast spirit of our homeland, Poland,” said Deputy Prime Minister. The head of the MON added that in this grave lies a Polish soldier, nameless, but at the same time known for his bravery and love of his homeland. – The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is simply a signpost, direction and warning, so that our emotions, all that makes us different, did not become bigger than the sacrifice our heroes made," Kosinik-Kamish emphasized.
The Minister besides pointed out that our goal is to make the Polish army the strongest in NATO today, best organized, large in terms of numbers, but even more in terms of operational capabilities. This is our common goal. Therefore, over the last 4 years, defence spending increased from around PLN 60 billion in 2022 to 200 billion in 2026 – the Deputy Prime Minister calculated. He added that the largest in history, next year's budget for Polish armaments inactive needs to be adopted by the Polish Parliament.
At the same time Kosiniak-Kamysz announced that this week, together with the Head of the General Staff of the Polish Army, he will present a comprehensive strategy of universal, voluntary defence and military training. However, as he said, another component of the air defence of the State is to be presented in a fewer days with a focus on issues related to the anti-drone defense.
– That's why we change the Polish army, that's why we build the strength of the Polish army, that's why we build the strength of our alliances and the strength of the society, so that we don't gotta spill blood so that we don't gotta sacrifice our lives so that no 1 always wants to attack Poland – pointed out the head of the MON.
During the ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister presented commemorative medals awarded to the institutions that defender the memory of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They were received by the Capital City of Warsaw, the office of the Warsaw Garrison, and the typical Regiment of the Polish Academy of Sciences, whose soldiers are full at the national mausoleum 24h guard. In addition, during the celebrations there was a solemn change of the honorary post at the Grave of the Unknown Soldier, the salute platoon gave a national salute, or 21 cannonfires, and the GNŻ erective act of November 2, 1925 was read.
The ceremony ended with the laying of wreaths at the monument and under the memorial plaque dedicated to Jadwidze Zarugiewiczowa, placed on the building of the Warsaw Garrison Command, as well as the military defilade.
