Tomasz Kontny and Jerzy Łanuszewski arrive at Pyrkon!

We're calling comic book fans! Have you wondered what's interesting about Pyrkona this year in the Comic Zone? We're in a hurry to answer! We are pleased to announce further fantastic guests: Tomasz Kontny and Jerzy Łanuszewski, who will bring you the planet of comic books!

Tomasz Kontny

Tomasz Kontny is the guy who arrives at Pyrkon again! Known as a comic and movie writer. He was awarded in competitions, including many times at the global Comics and Games Festival in Łódź. Tomasz is besides a co-writer and screenwriter of the “Division 7” series about SB-eks solving paranormal puzzles in the realities of the PRL. He cooperates with both independent phase and large releases. Moreover, he besides conducts script workshops and creative writing classes at the University of Silesia.

Fans of comic books may besides associate him as a co-writer and publisher of “Tram stories”, editor of comic book anthology from the Silesian Voivodeship Fest or the creator of the comic communicative “Our Museum”. It is besides worth adding that comic books to his screenplays were hosted, among others, in the anthologies “Nothing to 1 Another” and “In neighboring staff”. He besides published in magazines KKK, Profanum, Mashin and Karton and Written, High Aliens and Electoral Gazeta.

His latest work is, published in October 2025, a comic book “400” about the conflict of Breed (1694), called “Polish Thermopiles”. The author of the drawings is Adam Kmiełka, and the game focuses on the heroic defence of 400 Polish Hussars and Armours, who for many hours held back the 40,000 Tatar horde.

On this year's Pyrkon, you will be able to participate in the discussion panel, during which our guest will talk to you about the independent comic! In addition, for those who want to learn more about creating scripts for comic books, we have large news: Tomasz will run workshops on this topic! Jerzy Januszewski

In the Comic region you will besides see Jerzy Łanuszewski! More known as a screenwriter, editor and ex-editor. He is besides co-author of the series Giacomo Supernova (Figures: Robert Jach) and Rogdena (Figures: Joanna Vulture) and comic books “Called him Charles” (Figures: Ewa Kosciewicz) and “S11” (Figures: Blażej Kurowski). He besides participated in anthologies: “Revolutions: Apocryphas”, “Krztonowyrsum”, “Sliced Quarterly: peculiar #4”, “Last Tree” and “Created Not Stolen”.

He besides published in many zinas, including: Dirty, Biceps, Monster, Zinil is Wire. In addition, he edited RPG game manuals specified as: The Secrets of Loops, Vaesen: Mythical Beings, Vampires: Masquerade and Hunters: Advice. He is besides co-author of the strategy Other PRL – RPG game embedded in the comic series universe “Chapter 7”.

Jerzy Łanuszewski can besides boast about being a co-founder (with Barbara Okrasa) of “Warchlaks” – valued on the Polish phase of independent comic anthology (zin). This task is very crucial for creators focusing on the weird fiction, horror or widely understood alternative. Thematically, this zin is known for balancing between weirdness, horror or violent social themes, which is perfectly visible in the advertising slogan of the first issue: “Health – Beauty – lifestyles – violence”. Moreover, he is known for his advanced artistic quality, thematic cohesion and experimental approach to comic form. In “Warchlaky” their comic books print both acclaimed independent comic book creators and debutants. The authors included: Katarzyna Witerscheim, Olivia Ziębińska, Jan Mazur and Krzysztof Małecki.

On this year's Pyrkon, at the exhibition in the Comic Zone, you will be able to see work from the comic book “Nolands”, by Przemysław Fordel, to which Jerzy created the script!

Moreover, both Jerzy Łanuszewski and Tomasz Kontny will conduct a lecture, during which they will bring you closer to the Division 7 universe and tell you about working on creating RPG games! Fans of the series – must not miss you there!
