Tok FM radio without penalty. The criticism of the HiT Handbook

During the broadcast, Maslak made allegations that the book spreads hatred speech and compared it to a textbook for Hitlerjugend. Świrski felt that the broadcast promoted actions contrary to the Polish state, called for hatred or violence, and "accompaniment of a terrorist offence" (!).

The court made the right decision, abolishing the penalty, due to the fact that the idiotic arguments utilized by Swirski are striking in the eyes. Criticising the book for discriminating content or calling it "publicist gibberish", "bublem" and "split" was most justified and carried out in the framework of permitted press criticism, while Świrski's action meant, in my opinion, abuse of power by the president of the KRRiT and censorship of free media.

Once again, it turned out that Świrski acts like a "talib" in the interest of losing a political option, now limiting the anticipation of public media producing programmes by stopping payments due to them. The Public Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation on 15 May on the breach of powers by the president of the KRRiT, and earlier the Sejm had received a request to bring it before the Court of State. The proposal is expected to be examined in the autumn of this year. What are the rulers waiting for, allowing this man to proceed serving as a man from whom he should long ago be removed? On the another hand, the question arises as to why work on the fresh media law is taking so long. These matters were to be handled during the first months of the fresh coalition's rule!

Once again, the National Broadcasting Council should be liquidated! Casus The Świrski, who uses its extraordinary powers, bending them for his political purposes, shows that it is not a guardian of the freedom of the media, but of the interests of the organization and, in his case, of the Law and Justice. I find no argument for keeping the KRRiT alive – the Council employs about 150 people, this year its expenditure is expected to increase by 70 percent – to PLN 140 million, and spent almost PLN 16 million on salaries in 2023. Enough, rather a waste of public money on a politicized institution, which provides synecures for organization and post-party activists, granting concessions to their own people according to their own view and imposing penalties according to the ideology of the chairman. The KRRiT should be eliminated in the coming years, and its powers should be conferred on another authorities operating in Poland (e.g. the Ministry of Digitalism and the UOKiK) or in its place set up a fresh media regulator, i.e. negotiated in the public consultation process alternatively than at political tables!

Today, erstwhile the main discussion concerns the advertising marketplace and copyright and focuses on relations between media and large techs, we must not forget that the future form of the media is besides influenced by the KRRiT. The temptation for you and politicians to have their own instrument of regulation and governance is inactive enormous. However, I will always repeat that the media - especially public - must be of a social nature, not party-government-political nature. As long as there's a KRRiT, that won't be possible.
