This is how Poles perceive relations with the US

52 percent of respondents believe that Polish-American relations are neither good nor bad; 31 percent evaluates them well, and 10% are bad - according to the April CBOS poll. Compared to the 2 years ago, the percent of affirmative assessments of Polish and US relations fell by almost 50 percent points - the poller noted.


CBOS asked the respondents about this, as assessed by current Polish-American relations. 52 percent said they were neither good nor bad. According to 31 percent of respondents, they are good, of which 29 percent evaluated them as "preferably good", and 2 percent as "decisively good". In turn, 10 percent of respondents negatively assessed Polish-American relations: according to 9 percent of respondents they are "rather bad", according to 1 percent - "decisively bad". There are no 7 percent of subjects.

CBOS compared the survey results with the March 2023 survey. Then president Joe Biden visited Warsaw and confirmed the United States' commitment to Ukraine and the east flank of NATO. "In relation to the measurement of 2 years ago (...), the percent of affirmative Polish-American relations (from 80 percent in March 2023 to 31 percent now) fell almost 50 points" - indicated the polling room. At the same time, CBOS noted that in 2 years the percent of ambivalent assessments (from 14% to 52%) and negative ones (from 1% to 10%) increased.

Respondents besides answered the question in the study, who - in their opinion - more benefits on common relations - United States or Poland. 42 percent considered that Polish-American relations are akin to that of both parties (a decrease of 19 percent points compared to the March 2023); 5 percent stated that the main beneficiaries were Poles (a decrease of 1 percent point). In the opinion of 33%, relations in Poland are beneficial mainly for the United States (an increase of 15 percent points); 19 percent indicated the consequence "difficult to say" (an increase of 5 percent points).

Polish relations with the USA

The next question was, is - according to respondents - United States has a affirmative or negative impact on the world. 33% chose the "it depends" consequence (an increase of 5 percent points compared to the survey in 2023). 29 percent assessed the impact of the US as being alternatively negative (an increase of 23 percent points); 20 percent - as alternatively affirmative (a decrease of 32 percent points in 2023); 10 percent - either affirmative or negative (an increase of 4 percent points in 2023). There are no 9 percent surveyed on this issue.

Finally, the respondents were asked about them moods related to Donald Trump's presidency. The majority - 60% - are concerned. 19 percent declared indifference, 14 percent hope, and 7 percent chose the answer "difficult to say".

The survey was carried out by mixed mode (CAPI, CATI and CAWI) on 3-13 April 2025 on a example of 1030 people.
