They work in various professions – from officials to builders – but they are joined by their desire to service their homeland. More than 80 volunteers began basic military training in weekend mode in the 6th Mazovia Territorial Defence Brigade. After his completion, the candidates will take their oath and become soldiers.
Volunteers appeared in a military unit in Radom on Saturday 5 October at 6:00 a.m. On site they underwent medical examinations, fitness tests and first training. After all, they put on uniforms and went to the fresh Town of Pilica, where under the supervision of experienced instructors they would learn military craft. These include tactics, safe handling of weapons and shooting, field medicine and drills and regulations.
Active weekends
The weekend training includes 8 2-day training. This is the equivalent of 16-day basic training, whose completion is simply a condition for joining the WOT. The Saturday-Sunday expression is aimed at people who want to become territorials without having to quit work or private life. Among the recently incarnate were Mrs. Alicia, a caregiver all day. I decided to join the army due to the fact that I think it will give me more opportunities to aid others. I've been doing this for years, I want to keep doing it, especially now - after the flood - erstwhile so many people request support. I watched on tv the demolition and the coverage of how territorials operate on the site, and I decided it was my calling.
Depending on experience, candidates were divided into 2 groups. Those who have already had contact with the military will undergo compensatory training to refresh the cognition gained so far. For most of them, however, the military is completely fresh - for them the preparation is basic training.
- I'm sorry. I've always been curious in the military, and I'd like to be a professional soldier, but I'm presently studying and training on weekends is the only way for me to work things out. For me, it's a challenge of life and a first collision with military reality, but I have no worries. I know we're gonna gotta get up in the morning, and there's most likely gonna be quite a few physical activity," said volunteers.
Shoulder to shoulder
The training program is all that is essential to be able to execute territorial military service. Recruits will learn to work in a squad and discipline. Finally, they will test their cognition on an exam called 'the tactical loop'. All participants of basic training who complete it will make a solemn military oath.
The military oath will take place on December 8th. Earlier, due to the fact that on 23 November, basic training will begin in continuous mode. They may apply for a 6 MBOT recruiter (phone number at: recruiters.territoralsi.wp.mil.pl) or to the nearest Military Recruitment Centre.
Currently, the 6th Mazowiecka Territorial Defence Brigade has more than 2100 soldiers serving both professional and territorial military service and soldiers of active reserve. There are about 40 1000 territorials throughout Poland.
