Today, women make up almost 9% of the full Polish Armed Forces and almost 20% of the composition of the Territorial defence Troops. But in 1988, erstwhile their recruitment began, most frequently among female medical students, no 1 expected it. Ladies had to wait 11 years for military schools to open to them and until 2003 to be granted access to all posts. 20 years later, not only are there more and more of them, but they have been placed under mandatory military service.
