Problems with the education of Minister Katarzyna Kotuli, the speech of Minister Barbara Nowacka, as well as the sharp exchange of opinions on social media on alleged social construction – all this indicates that the atmosphere in Donald Tusk's government is becoming increasingly tense. Meanwhile, politicians openly talk about major changes that may come after the presidential election.

"Border point" is coming

There is more and more talk about possible changes in government, and the subject was addressed by the Minister of Digitalization Krzysztof Gawkowski.

– After the election there will be a reconstruction of the government, most likely strong," he said on Monday on Radio Zet.

The politician added that Donald Tusk besides addressed the subject, suggesting that all ruling squad after any time needs refresh and fresh impulses to act. According to Gawkowski, the "border point" for change is presidential elections. After them, the Prime Minister may plan a wide-ranging reconstruction, covering both personnel and structural changes.

Connecting ministries and improving cooperation

Gawkowski pointed out that the changes would not only concern the exchange of ministers but besides the functioning of the full government.

– During coalition meetings Donald Tusk points out that any fields should work together more closely," said the Minister of Digitalization. This is not about individual attention, but to make communication between ministries better. I think the finale is that ministries can merge.

This means that the government may consider reducing the number of ministries, which aims at more efficient management of public administration.

“The reconstructions take place in all government, it is about strategical reasoning about cooperation between ministries and ministers and the priorities of the government”, Gawkowski stressed. – I think Donald Tusk has a concept of building a strong government based on his experience and sees how we worked for respective months.

Last major government reconstruction

The fresh major changes in government took place last May, erstwhile respective ministers left their positions in relation to moving for the European Parliament. Then:

  • Tomasz Siemoniak assumed the position of Minister of Interior and Administration, replacing Marcin Kierwiński,
  • Hanna Wróblewski became the fresh Minister of Culture and National Heritage, replacing Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz,
  • Jakub Jaworowski took over the Ministry of State Assets after Boris Budka,
  • Krzysztof Paszyk became Minister of improvement and Technology in place of Krzysztof Hetman.

What's next?

The Government Administration Departments Act allows flexible merger of resorts according to needs. It is possible that the future reconstruction of the government will bring together ministries liable for construction, economy, agriculture, public administration, interior affairs, computerisation or justice. If Donald Tusk decides to make specified major changes, it will be 1 of the largest government restructurings in fresh years.

Will the upcoming reconstruction improve government work and improve relations between coalitions? We'll most likely know the answer after the presidential election.
