After stormy seismic debates on the bill setting out fresh rules for the payment of wellness contributions by business operators, the task was submitted to the Senate.
At the same time, many critically assessing the simplification in the contribution for entrepreneurs asked president Andrzej Duda to veto the bill. The Ombudsman, Agnieszka Majewska, spoke in defence of business-friendly solutions.
Drastic increase of wellness contribution under the Polish Deal
In writings to the president and Marshal of the legislature of Margaret Kidawa-Błońska The Ombudsman pointed out the excessive rate of increase in business costs in fresh years, which was importantly contributed by the drastic increase in the wellness contribution under the Polish Governance. The negative consequences of these changes were felt for the full Polish economy, including in peculiar for hundreds of thousands of tiny companies, for which the expanding regulatory burden has become a serious challenge. According to Minister Majewska, the implementation of the solutions adopted by the Sejm "will not solve all the problems that are presently facing the smallest entrepreneurs, but this will be an crucial step towards improving the operating conditions and improving the competitiveness of Polish companies".
The SME spokesperson criticises the allegation that lowering the contribution to low and medium-income entrepreneurs will affect the situation of workers. In her view, this allegation has unduly created social tensions. On the contrary, the solutions presently in force are detrimental to those engaged in economical activity.

“Weaknesses in the backing of wellness services,” says Agnieszka Majewska, should not be complemented by imposing excessive burdens on selected social groups.
Minister Majewska besides disagrees with the allegation that the introduction of the law will consequence in "pulling" workers into fictional self-employment. In its conclusions, the SME Ombudsman calls on Senators to adopt the bill and the president to sign it.
