Siennicki Bridge was waiting, and millions went to the ground crossings in Gdańsk

I am looking at what is happening in Gdańsk, and I cannot realize why the city authorities are making decisions so disconnected from the real needs of the inhabitants. The Siennicki Bridge, 1 of the key crossings connecting the Reworking and Stoga with the remainder of the city, is falling apart in front of us. Meanwhile, the city has so far invested millions in projects that, to put it mildly, could wait – it is about ground crossings.

Let us look at the facts. In fresh years Gdańsk has spent tremendous sums on building ground crossings for pedestrians. On Hynka Street: PLN 3.2 million. At the advanced Gate: PLN 5.8 million. Next to Gdańsk Main Railway Station: PLN 12 million. And close Gdańsk Medical University: another PLN 3.2 million. full Over PLN 24 million – for passages that replace existing tunnels. That's as much as it takes to get to the Siennicki Bridge.

Yeah, tunnels that worked perfectly before. Residents and tourists utilized them for decades. And now? The tunnels are closed due to the fact that the city is pushing the politics of “pacifying movement” and “restorement of space with pedestrians”. Sounds good in election brochures, but in fact it only means bigger traffic jams and communication chaos.

Siennicki Bridge waited and fell apart

At the same time, the Siennicki Bridge, which is absolutely essential for the Port Island residents, is closed. Why? due to the fact that his method condition is tragic. But who is liable for years of neglecting this crossing? Authorities have known about the bridge's problems for a decade. alternatively of investing in its renovation, money flowed into expensive, showy projects like ground crossings that nobody specifically needed.

Who suffers from this? Residents of Processing and Stogs. all closure of the bridge means they're cut off from the remainder of the city. Higher transport costs, more time spent on the road and a full deficiency of communication by the authorities.

Substitute or fanaberia?

Authorities argue that ground crossings are a better solution for pedestrians. But really? The tunnels were working. They were removed only to push the ideological imagination of the city. Let's face it: transitions for millions are not a substitute for tunnels. This is an costly fanbabie for which we – residents – pay.

And now that the Siennicki Bridge needs immediate renovation, we hear it takes time to prepare a project, consult, evaluate... But millions came at once.

Where's the logic?

Priorities for a package – Ground transitions are not a strategy

The authorities of the city of Gdańsk – Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, Piotr Borawski, but besides Piotr Grzelak should realize that the main function of the infrastructure is to connect residents and supply them with efficient communication. Siennicki Bridge should be an absolute priority. But the precedence in Gdańsk is, as you can see, something else – the media glow of fresh investments that can be opened with a pump and a ribbon cut.

If the city does not change its approach, the residents of the Transformers and Stogs, but most likely besides another districts will gotta cope on their own for a long time. And that is erstwhile the authorities spend our money on projects that are more suitable for postcards than for solving real problems.

It is advanced time the authorities of Gdańsk stopped pursuing their visions at the expense of the inhabitants.
