This information marks the continuation of deliveries to the Russian army of the older 2S19M1 Msta-S artillery systems, despite the ongoing production of the newer 2S19M2. In any case, it cannot be ruled out that it is not truly about manufacturing the full structure from scratch, but about the refurbishment of cars that are in the equipment reserve or towed from the front. Interestingly, based on the communications issued so far by the defence holding Rostiech, 1 can get the impression that the M1 version is much more frequently transferred to the army than the newer M2. However, the delivered vehicles were to undergo additional improvements, including the installation of digital equipment allowing for closer cooperation with unmanned aerial reconnaissance vehicles and counter-battery radars. This is to translate into greater effectiveness in eliminating, among others, Ukrainian artillery.
