The Russian marriage, Igor and Irina R., was accused of spying on the Russian Federation while in Poland.

The couple came to the country as part of the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) program, carried out at the request of then Minister of Education and discipline Przemysław Czarnek.

Since 2020, they both received a peculiar scholarship from the written government, financed by the Polish Ministry of abroad Affairs.

In 2023, Igor and Irina R. applied for exile status. The erstwhile verification process – conducted by Border Guard, ABW and Police – lasted a year. Finally, global protection was granted to them in early January 2024.

Igor R. was arrested in mid-2024, while his service wife was detained in November.

The investigation established that Igor R. worked with the Russian national safety Service (FSB). He confessed.

The Prosecutor's Office besides accuses him of being active in sending a package containing explosives, including nitroglycerin.
