Women's Day It has been celebrated worldwide for many years. His genesis is associated with labour movements that were born in Europe and North America in the early 20th century. On 8 March 1908, women from the fresh York textile mill organized a strike, demanding, among others, equal pay. The owner of the facility locked them inside to avoid publicity. There was a fire at the mill that killed 129 women. A year later, on 28 February 1909, in commemoration of the victims, the first celebrations of women's day were held. 8 March International Women's Day was established in 1910.
The first day of women's celebration in Poland was considered 24 March 1924. It was then in Warsaw that three-day meetings of the legislature of the General Council of the Polish ellipse began. Interestingly, the word “woman's day” was the first not to usage the associate of the convention, but the editorial office “Kurjer Polski”.
