The possible of losing Pokrovsk – a blow to Ukrainian metallurgy

On 12 December, Metinvest, a company owned by Rinat Akhmetov, announced that due to the deteriorating safety situation (intensification of shelling and the approach of the front), 1 of the coal mining plants (shaft No. 3) in the village of Pishchane close Pokrovsk in the Donetsk Oblast had suspended operations, and its employees and their families had been evacuated. The plant, which is part of the Shakhto-Croplin "Pokrovske", accounted for about half of Metinvest's full coking coal production. The remaining mines proceed to operate for the time being.
