Prof. Jarosław Flis from the Jagiellonian University, commenting on these results for PAP, pointed out the decrease in support for Trzaskowski. According to him, this is not the consequence of the shift of electorate to Karol Nawrocki, but alternatively the losses to another candidates, including Magdalena Biejat (Levice), Adrian Zandberg (Together) and Simon Holown (Poland2020). This may mean that the run is moving into a phase in which any mistake may matter.
Dr. Bartosz Rydliński of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University indicates that the debate in Koński was a turning point in the campaign. In his opinion, Trzaskowski looked poorly as an organizer, allowing another candidates to participate in the debate, as well as authoritarianally, refusing to participate in anyone but Karol Nawrocki. This could have a negative impact on public opinion and support for Trzaskowski.
The presidential election will be held on 18 May this year, and the eventual second circular – 1 June. So far, the State Election Commission (PKW) has registered respective candidates, including Rafał Trzaskowski, Karol Nawrocki and Sławomir Mentzen. The polls indicate that Trzaskowski and Nawrocki are the main candidates, but Holovnia and Biejat may inactive surprise.
According to fresh data, support for Trzaskowski is 31.7%, for Nawrocki – 27.6%, and for Holowna – 10.3%. Biejat has 6.2% support and Zandberg has 4.5%. This means that the run is entering a decisive phase in which each candidate will gotta fight for all vote.
It is worth noting that the presidential elections in Poland are very crucial for the future of the country. The president has large powers, including legislative veto and the right to appoint parliamentary elections. This means that the winner of these elections will have a crucial impact on Poland's policy and economy.
In the coming weeks, the run will intensify and candidates will gotta show their skills and abilities to convince voters of their programs and visions of the future. It will be a hard and fierce fight, but elections are a democratic process that allows voters to decide the future of their country.
