Does political satire inactive make sense erstwhile reality itself becomes a joke? Krzysztof Skiba answers: yes, due to the fact that laughter is the last form of opposition to horror. His image of Donald Trump as a “fool in papal robe” is more than mocking – it is an act of despair over the planet that has forgotten what the seriousness of power is.
— The White home (@WhiteHouse) May 3, 2025Political absurdity as everyday
Photos by Donald Trump of the Pope, published – as the media reports – on the authoritative website of the White House, are not only a motion of the wormless. This, according to Skiba, is simply a sign of times in which seriousness was replaced by performance and competence – self-promotion.
Grotesque picture? Yes, but all the more disturbing erstwhile it ceases to be an exception and begins to illustrate political everyday life.
Grotesque and power boundary
“It would be comic if Trump were a comedian” – Skiba writes. But it's not. Trump as a rockman, star of breakfast television, LGBT activist or even night club dancer – in each of these grotesque incarnations would be acceptable. The planet is in the hands of a man who does not grow up to his function.
Satyr as the cry of helplessness
"We're fucked." It's not a joke, the satirical form stops playing here, and it starts to bother. Skiba's entry becomes not so much a satire on Trump as a satire for our time. Times erstwhile the border between Grotesque and power was irretrievably blurred.
VARIAT
On the White House's authoritative website, a photograph of Donald Trump was featured as Pope. It would be comic if Trump was an American comedian. It'd be comic if he was a stone star. It would be a delicious gag if its author were a star of breakfast tv and taught people how to make oatmeal. possibly these mockery of believing and God-fearing Catholics could be understood if Trump were a popular atheist and left-wing activist, or a dancer in a nightclub for the LGBT community.
However, this is unfortunately the current president of the United States. He's just a jerk about the mentality of a advanced school urchin.
The predictions of futurologists and writers came true. The planet is in the hands of a madman.
We're fucked.
