On 11 February, next Wednesday, a gathering of the National safety Council convened by Karol Nawrocki will be held. 3 topics are to be addressed: "The debt drawn by the government for the implementation of the SAFE programme; the invitation of Poland to the Council of Peace (organ of Donald Trump – ed.); actions taken by state authorities to explain all the circumstances of the social and business contacts of the talker of the Parliament of Vladimir Czarzasty". Radosław Sikorski now referred to the another one, expressing his doubts.
Radosław Sikorski on ambiguities concerning the Council of Peace
Let us remind you that the Peace Council is the body of Donald Trump, who is to manage the Gaza Strip; it is said that it would deal with another conflicts in the future. Poland received an invitation to the committee, but politicians' opinions about participation in the task are divided. Who decides to join (or does not) the Peace Council is detailed in a separate article. Radosław Sikorski recalled the procedure, stressing that the possible participation of Poland in the Peace Council is regulated by the Constitution and laws.
"The global Contracts Act says that in order to sign an global agreement at all, the consent of the Council of Ministers is needed in the form of a resolution. The invitation was addressed personally to the president (Karola Nawrocki). So the president would gotta show the initiative that he wants to join this Council and the government will then consider it and possibly take a resolution on it or on it," he pointed out in the message quoted by Interia.
The head of the Ministry of abroad Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister proposed that he could advise the president on this matter.
– I am preparing to give the president an assessment of all the opportunities and risks associated with this Council. Also, for him, for example, because, as we know, Belarus has already become a associate of the Council, the country is not necessarily friendly to us. The Russian Federation was invited, and it was erstwhile Putin bombed Kiev," he noted.
In the opinion of Radosław Sikorski, the construction of the Council itself is "very unusual". The politician pointed out a number of ambiguities, including regarding the position of the body and the position of its chairman, i.e. Donald Trump, "with absolute prerogatives after he finished his word as president of the United States".
– It's unclear what happens to the money. And we would like to know in advance – he pointed out.
Sikorski about a billion dollars at the Peace Council
Radosław Sikorski stated that since Karol Nawrocki put the subject of the Peace Council on the RCN agenda, "I think he would like to join." He besides recalled the statements of "other opposition representatives" that "you gotta pay this billion dollars to rebuild the Gaza Strip". Let us remind you that for paying a billion dollars and joining Donald Trump's task is Jarosław Kaczyński.
– A billion dollars is PLN 3.6 billion today. And erstwhile we have challenges in the country and fighting Ukraine. So I want to hear why the Polish payer should rebuild Gaza, which we did not destroy, and in an intermediate formula. due to the fact that if we want to spend money on rebuilding Gaza, that is the improvement budget, there is simply a humanitarian budget. This can be done straight – indicated the Deputy Prime Minister.
– I do not see any tsunami requests or enthusiasm of the Polish public to rebuild Gaza. But the president surely has his arguments, which the government will, of course, perceive out of respect to the head of state – Sikorski declared.
