Minister appointed Head of the Support Inspectorate

"Vice Prime Minister, National Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz appointed Brig-Gen Dariusz Mendrala as Head of the Armed Forces Support Inspectorate on 23 January", the Ministry of Defence reported today. The erstwhile head of this institution was resigned for insufficient action on lost transport mines.

Decision to resign Maj. Gen. Artur Kępczyński, the erstwhile head of the Armed Forces Support Inspectorate, was taken yesterday. This is the consequence of an analysis of the activities of this institution on lost military cargo. Let us remind, a fewer months ago, during the unloading of transport at the base in the town of Mosty pod Szczecin, part of the cargo was omitted, which went on further journey. Over 200 anti-tank mines were later found in a logistics center in another area of the country. The full thing yet went back to the army, and the circumstances became the subject of control. As Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish reported this morning, insufficient action to clarify the case became the reason for the dismissal of Gen. Kępczyński from his position.
A fewer hours later, MON reported that Brig-Gen Dariusz Mendral, formerly manager of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation Investment Facility, would be the Chief of the Inspectorate. The officer will take up the fresh post on January 23.

Brig. Gen. Dariusz Mendrala graduated from the Higher Officers School of Quartermaster Services, as well as the Academy of Economics in Poznań. He is besides a postgraduate of postgraduate studies at the National Defence Academy, the University of Warsaw and at the National Defence University in Washington. He completed a three-month global Defence Resource Management Course, organized by the Postgraduate School of the U.S. Navy in Monterey. The Armed Forces Support Inspectorate is the main logistics institution in the Ministry of Defence. Its tasks include both the acquisition of equipment and equipment for the needs of the Polish Army and the provision of an efficient strategy of transportation of equipment to units. He besides deals with logistics safety of Polish quotas and performs the function of the alleged host state in the case of allied actions in Poland. The inspectorate, whose seat is in Bydgoszcz, is straight under the General Staff of the Polish Army.
