The issue of transferring additional MiG-29 fighter jets was simply an chance to begin talks with Ukraine regarding its transfer of drone technology to Poland. What function did these aircraft play—and what function do they proceed to play—in the ongoing war? How else might they be useful in Poland? To what degree can the MiG-29s support Polish industry, and is Poland capable of modernizing these aircraft as Kyiv would like? Was it “okay” for us to offer these aircraft to Ukraine in exchange for aid in strengthening Poland’s defense? And finally: Do we have a successor to these aircraft in Poland?
