Prime Minister Donald Tusk is criticised for the Israeli politicians' planned visit to celebrate the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. The allegations against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, issued by the global Criminal Court (ICT), became a problem. The decision of the Polish government not to detain Israeli officials despite an global arrest warrant raised opposition to the leader of the Confederation of Pomerania, Michał Urbaniak.
Poland, as a signatory of the Roman Statutes, is obliged to comply with the ICC's decisions. The Court issued a warrant for the arrest of Benjamin Netanjah in connection with suspicions of crimes against humanity and war. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Tusk announced that people representing Israel, regardless of their function, can number on full safety and immunity during the ceremony at Auschwitz.
This decision was taken after consultation with the Israeli embassy. As the Prime Minister assured, the Polish government will not let anniversary celebrations to become an arena of political competitions or media demonstrations.
Political reactions and criticism
Michał Urbaniak of the Confederacy, who accused Donald Tusk of committing a crime under Article 231 of the Criminal Code, caused a storm in the media. Urbaniak argues that protecting Netanyahu means violating the duties of Prime Minister and global law. On the another hand, Tusk stresses that ensuring the safety of the Israeli delegation is simply a symbolic issue, especially in the context of the Auschwitz place.

Tusk besides accused president Andrzej Duda of making this delicate problem unnecessary to the public. According to the Prime Minister, matters of this rank should be resolved in a discreet way, without escalation of the conflict in the media arena.
