In Taiwan, large military maneuvers began by Han Kuang, preparing an army in the event of an armed Communist invasion of China, as reported by Taiwanese officials. A spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Defence Jiang Bin estimated that these exercises were "nothing more than a bluff".
