China is counting on Poland's "more constructive role" during its EU Presidency in the improvement of Beijing-Brussels relations - stated abroad Minister Wang Yi during the Monday telephone conversation with the head of Polish diplomacy Radosław Sikorski. Wang assured of the engagement of the PRC in the political solution of the "crisis in Ukraine".
In the Chinese Ministry of Diplomacy emphasized that Poland is simply a "important strategical partner" of China in Europe. Minister Wang expressed the will of Beijing to keep advanced level contacts and grow cooperation.
"This year China and the EU celebrates the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and We anticipate Poland as the country holding the rotating EU Presidency to play a more constructive function in promoting greater advancement in China-EU relations" - Wang said.
On the issue of "crisis in Ukraine", as Beijing calls Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the Chinese minister estimated that Recent reopening of direct talks between Russia and Ukraine"despite the differences in their positions, is the first step towards peace". "Russia is now China's economical vassal (...). If China threatened with a trade embargo, Russia would gotta bow down. At the moment, however, it does not look like it" - said Sikorski "Tagesspiegel".
