In Russia , more and more decisions must take into account the approval of the FSB , its opposition or its safety criteria . This already applies not only to counterintelligence and protection of secrets, but besides to parts of technological cooperation, telecommunications, critical infrastructure, the economy and the protection of the electoral process. This does not mean that the national safety Service is taking over in Russia. On the contrary, its increasing competences are part of Vladimir Putin's policy, which is defined by more and more areas of state functioning as safety issues.
