The “Łucznik” weapon mill presented its flagship product on the MSPO in a completely fresh life. In MSBS Grot A3, among another things, there was a simplification of the plan allowing easier usage of weapons, and the construction was besides sealed, protecting it from external influences – however, it is only part of the modifications that the guests of the Kielce fair can learn about.
At the XXXII global Defence manufacture Exhibition, the Radom Weapons mill “Łuknicz” presented, among others, the latest version defends well-known Polish uniform. This is about MSBS Grot A3. This is simply a solution that must be verified with the main recipient – the Polish army.
“The military has not yet tested the MSBS Grot A3 proposal,” admits Aleksandra Odziemkowska, Head of Marketing and Communications Department of the “Łuknik” Radom Weapons Factory. The president of Seweryn Figurski stressed during this year's MSPOIt's up to the army to decide what the final version of A3 will be. However, the mill representatives guarantee that the proposed changes in the Grota structure are the consequence of many conversations with users of erstwhile versions of the carbine and listening to their needs.
MSBS Grot A3 features a simplified design, which translates into easier weapon handling. The modification of the lock chamber and the slide affected better sealing. With this modification the tensioner levers and the strategy of fixing of the slide inserts have been modified (it was previously welded, and is now mounted utilizing pins).
The lock chamber in addition to reducing the cut-out of co-operating with the tensioner was enriched with mass cutting in the advanced mounting rail area. The firearm besides has a fresh bed on which the targeting devices can be attached. This solution prolongs the aiming lines and improves fire efficiency. In this bed, the transverse profile in the hand-supporting area was changed, allowing this component of the structure to be ‘shrinked’.
A 16" barrel was replaced with a 14.5". The maker shall guarantee that this does not prevent the maintenance of advanced performance and focus. The barrel outlet device is mounted utilizing a 1/2 x 28 UNEF universal thread, which allows, among others, for direct connection of various sound suppressors with increased rigidity of mounting and simplification of weapon mass.
In version A3, access to gas node support does not now require disassembly of barrel assembly from lock chamber assembly. The gas regulator itself has besides been modified, which has been enriched with an additional safety lever for the intent to dismantle this weapon solution.
Theoretically minor, but crucial especially for AR strategy users, the changes are the angles of operation of the fire kind switch: first position (protected), in a position 90 degrees – single fire, in a position 135 degrees – continuous fire. Another proposal of specialists from the “Luchnik” is to replace plastic manipulators with more durable aluminium counterparts. The trigger chamber in which the above manipulators are placed has besides been modified in the magazine slot area. This allows users of the Grota version A3 to usage different variants of AR and PMAG 3rd generation magazines.
Simplifying the trigger mechanics allowed to reduce the mass of weapons, increase comfort of usage and operation. 1 of the most expressive, and surely the most noticeable change at first glance, is simply a fresh squad of flasks. The A3 version proposes an AR flask adapter. At the same time, the flask itself has the anticipation of placing it on the right side while maintaining the anticipation of shooting. As a result, we get not only increased maneuverability with a folded flask, but besides more regulation of the degree of its release. Compared to the erstwhile variant, the adjustment increased (depending on the solution of the flask) by 3–5 cm.
MSBS The A3 grotto weighs about 300 g little than the A2 version while maintaining the external dimensions of the weapon at a level akin to the first solution.
