The spokesperson for the president of Poland Rafał Leśkiewicz informed on Monday that Karol Nawrocki had decided to pardon 3 people and at the same time rejected applications for pardon of 5 people. Leśkiewicz stressed in a communication published on social media that the president was guided by "humanitarian considerations".

As the President's spokesperson said, Karol Nawrocki utilized his right of grace towards 3 people. The motions for pardon were totaled by eight, but the president rejected the others.

“The president of the Republic of Poland, erstwhile taking decisions, was guided by humanitarian reasons, affirmative opinions of the courts, as well as requests of the lawyer General to exercise the right of grace,” Leszkiewicz explained.

"In addition, the president of the Republic of Poland signed 4 provisions in which, in accordance with Article 567 §2 of the Code, he requested the lawyer General to present the file in 4 cases. This provision states: >>The lawyer General presents the case file to the president of the Republic of Poland or initiates ex officio proceedings for pardon in any case erstwhile the president decides so", added the President's spokesperson in the entry on platform X.

President Nawrocki has never exercised the law of grace before

So far – for nearly six months the presidency – Karol Nawrocki has not decided to pardon anyone. 40 requests for the application of the law of grace remained unanswered.
