After months of waiting, soldiers of the 16th Nidzicka Motorised Brigade took KTO Rosomak vehicles with the Hitfist-30P tower into the unit. The first crews were trained a fewer months ago, now the next courses will begin and the crew commanders, drivers and gun-operators on their own equipment will play.
The rosomaks descending from the tow truck and parked in an equal row on the square at the barracks is simply a view which has long been awaited by soldiers of the only brigade motorized in the structures of the 16th Pomeranian Mechanized Division. According to the announcements, the first organization of KTO Rosomak has already reached Załusek close Nidzica (Warmia-Masurian province). This is the basic platform for the 16th Motorised Brigade soldiers who will have a variety of equipment in the future: from drones to K2 tanks.
– We are the first unit to be motorized in 16 DZ, which means that we will be a mobile unit, a maneuvering unit that responds rapidly to changing the situation in the battlefield. On the 1 hand, we will be a natural retreat for the commander of the division. On the another hand, we will be able to execute many tasks resulting from the destiny of the brigade – said Colonel Thomas Isio a fewer months ago, commander of the 16th Brigade.. “In addition to motorized infantry, we will have anti-aircraft, armored, support and safety units, medical” he announced.
WHO Rosomak, who reached the Nidzicka brigade, are cars with the Hitfist-30P combat tower. The two-man tower is equipped with an automatic kal cannon. 30 mm ATK Mk 44 with double-sided charging feeder. An additional weapon is simply a coupled device weapon cal. 7.62 mm UKM-2000C. The tower is utilized to combat light armored vehicles, including transporters and combat infantry cars. It can besides fight helicopters in suspension and in slow flight.
The 16th Brigade, awaiting the transportation of the Rosomaks, conducted courses for drivers in its unit, and crew commanders and gunmen-operators went to training in Wędrzyn, where the 17th Wielkopolska Mechanized Brigade is stationed.
16 Nidzicka Brigade Motorized is the youngest military unit in the structures of the Amber Division, and at the same time the fastest developing in the Polish Army. Colonel Isio was appointed to form a fresh brigade in February 2024. In March he had 30 soldiers under him, and little than a year later he had 600. – We manage to follow the schedule. The number of jobs assigned to us is increasing, so not only do we train fresh soldiers to swear, but we can accept them immediately after the oath to service in the brigade," said 16 BZmot commander a fewer months ago, announcing that by the end of the year the number of his soldiers should be 4 figures.
