The European Parliament’s Committee on economical and Monetary Affairs has adopted a proposal on the digital euro, an electronic form of the single currency issued by the ECB. The initiative inactive needs to be voted on by the full Parliament in Strasbourg and discussed with EU associate states, but the timeline suggests that the fresh strategy could be launched by the end of the decade.
