It's no secret that without the financial and material support of the collective west, Ukraine would have lost the war on Russia long ago. Meanwhile, the military struggles have been going on for a year now, and there is no indication that they are going to end quickly. Western aid is coming to Kiev in an always wider stream.
Analysts of the Kiel Institute for the planet Economy presented a report, which they estimated the scale of support for Ukraine, provided by individual states. According to the authors.
Poland is 1 of the leaders of this ranking. In summing up government aid and assistance to “refugees” we get the amount 11.92 billioneuro, i.e. in terms of PLN 56.6 billion. This is the 3rd largest after the US (EUR 73.18 billion) and Germany (12.96 billion of which EUR 6.8 billion is aid to refugees) amount of support.
These numbers look even more awesome if they are combined with the size of individual economies. If we take into account the percent of GDP transferred to Ukraine, Poland would be a stand-alone ranking leader. W56.6 billion PLN is 1.9% of our GDP. By comparison, Germany spent only 0.3% of its GDP on comparable aid.
However, the study by the Kilonian Institute of planet Economy is burdened with methodological errors, which lead to underestimation of Poland's financial effort and overestimation of another countries' financial effort. The adopted methodology of investigation led to the inclusion in the above data besides of the values of military equipment declared to the commandment and yet not passed on. For Germany, which declared EUR 2.4 billion in war equipment, only 58% of this value was delivered by 15 January. In the case of Poland, only government actions were included. Meanwhile, it is common cognition that financial and in-kind support to Ukraine was besides provided through non-budget funds in this state-owned company. The estimated cost of surviving “refugees” does not include, for example, the cost of wellness care which takes place on the account of the Polish taxpayer.
However, regardless of these shortcomings from the study of the Kilonian Institute of planet Economy, there is simply a shocking picture. Poland has overburdened its own economy by spending PLN 56 billion (this underestimation) to support the Ukrainian regime. present we pay for this in the form of inflation and expensiveness.
