And again, we were provoked by the Ukrainian authorities (including its president Volodymyr Zelenski) to discuss "The Volynian Rose". And again it is worth mentioning with modifications the content of my post dated 01.02.2015 (]]>https://krzysztofjaw.blogspot.com/2015/02/meaning-historical truth-...]]>). I do this to remind all defenders of government in Ukraine why, in fact - as Poles - we "break copies" in the fight for historical truth.
At the time, the text afraid - as well as now - this shameful genocide carried out by the CNS-UPA on Poles from the erstwhile east ends.
However, before moving on to the core content of the column, I would like to say that this issue has a peculiar household speech for me.
Well, half of me (after my mother, from the home of Rozwadowska) is Volynian Kresowiak and I remember what my grandma (from the home of Rojek) told me, who survived all 3 occupations: Soviet, German and Ukrainian. Its gradation of atrocities and torture committed to Poles was as follows: the cruelest were Ukrainians, later Soviets and only at the end of Germany.
It was besides hard for her to return to those wartime and post-war times, but yet I found out that my grandpa and grandma with 4 daughters (including my mother) had escaped from the Ukrainian execution at night, leaving almost all their property in the Kresach. Escape was only possible due to the fact that 1 of the Ukrainians had a crush on 1 of my mother's older sisters, and he warned that the Ukrainians would execution them in the morning. They took only as much as they could fit on this wagon and reached Lublin to settle under Lublin.
The unusual thing is that their escape took place after WWII. So you can see that even after the war the Ukrainians continued to "hunt" Poles and the Volyńska massacre lasted a long time after this war, and this must besides be remembered.

I watched the movie Volyn many times. For me, it is simply a documentary film, due to the fact that giving almost everything that happened there, but that the genocide tortures and murders were even more cruel than the movie presents.
I realize the authors of the film, due to the fact that if they made a movie containing all the tortures and murders made in Poles by the CNS-UPA, it would should be aired almost in the night hours and besides in the cinema then there should be an age regulation even for 20 years. And the movie itself would gotta last 4-5 hours.
"The Volyn massacre" is most likely the cruelest genocide in Poles during their centuries of history, or 1 of the biggest ones, though in fact Germany and even the Soviets were not so hateful of Poles, although after the war we experienced Stalinism and communism - besides cruel and during planet War II Germans besides murdered Poles, but they were not so cruelly savage.
I have repeatedly written that any standardisation of common global bilateral relations must be based on historical truth. Only fact and respect for past and a clear attitude towards it give the anticipation of reconciliation between nations, no substance how hard past is.
The worst possible action is to effort to silence or whitewash past events by 1 of the negative parties or to reverse their contextual, global historical importance and to call murderers heroes for example... This gives birth to a certain kind of ethical-moral rebellion on the another hand, which can produce a multiplied aversion to a peculiar nation, much more intense than if the fact were accepted and accepted by all.
So it is crucial that Polish-Ukrainian relations should besides be based on historical fact and in no way whitewash or negate the past.
Unfortunately... from the Polish point of view the Ukraine's glorification of the OUN formation and UPA and the creation of their leaders as national heroes cannot be the basis of correct Polish-Ukrainian relations based on truth.
And this fact is difficult, especially for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, due to the fact that it was the OUN-UPA supported in a large part by the Ukrainian civilian population, which in Volyn and east Galicia (Eastern Malopolska) brought - according to various estimates - 130 to 200 1000 Polish victims. Jews or Ukrainians themselves were besides murdered, who in any way showed a favorable attitude towards Poles. Additionally, Ukrainian acts of panic forced hundreds of thousands of our countrymen to flee their homes.
The fact of cultural genocide itself should be an a'priori premise for the historical negative assessment of the CNS-UPA and become the same foundation for building a appropriate and friendly relation between our countries and nations... especially in the current hard geopolitical situation.
This is all the more essential given that these murders were carried out in a cruel and savage way in a decisive amount on the defenceless civilian population, ranging from unborn infants through children to losers.
Dr. A. Korman counted as much as 362 torture methods utilized on Poles by Ukrainian OUN-UPA killers.

- Abdomen and intestinal excitation in adults
- Cutting the abdomen of a female in advanced pregnancy and in place of a taken-out fetus, inserting, for example, a surviving cat and stitching the abdomen
- Abdomen cutting and pouring in boiling water
- Cutting of the abdomen and inserting stones into it and throwing them into the river
- Cutting pregnant women's tummy and throwing broken glass inside
- Tearing from the groin to the feet
- Vaginal insertion - hot iron vagina

- Hanging your feet upside down on a tree and frying your head from the bottom with fire lit under your head
- Throwing down a rock
- Melting in the river
- Melting by throwing in a deep well
- Melting in a well and imposing stones on a sacrifice
- Stabbing forks and then burning body parts at the fire.
- Throwing an adult into the flames of fires in a forest clearing around which Ukrainian girls sang and danced at the sounds of harmony
- Inserting the wheels into the abdomen and strengthening it in the ground
- Tie to a man's tree and shoot him like a firing shield
- Driving bare or in underwear in the cold
- Suffocation by twisting with soapy line hanging around the neck, called the Arkan
- Busted on the street of the torso with a line around the neck
- Tie a woman's legs to 2 trees and hands above her head and slit her abdomen from crotch to breast

These methods of torture surpassed the torture of the Nazi genocide. Germans or genocidal russian Russia.
You can't forget these facts and whitewash them. It is impossible to glorify historical, cruel, and savage genocidal killers as national heroes. Otherwise, unfortunately, common Polish-Ukrainian hatred may increase. On the 1 hand, it may be the basis of the rebirth of Ukrainian nationalism, in which "Lachy" (meaning Poles) were regarded as the main enemy of Ukraine, and - on the another hand - in Poles aversion to Ukrainians and sympathy to all who someway harm Ukraine (e.g. Russia).
Both Poles and Ukrainians should depend present on the best possible contacts and common friendships, but I repeat: only widely accepted fact and a clear attitude to it can be the basis of good relations between our peoples.
If this is the case, there will surely not be any Polish statements and actions that are hostile to Ukrainians... If so, the streets of Ukrainian cities will surely not bear the names of UPA or CNS, there will be no S memorials. Bander or called Ukrainian armed formations after these criminal organizations...
