Revolut blocked accounts belonging to Russian citizens who did not prove that they had a valid residence licence in the European Union. According to the Russian-speaking BBC service, this decision was taken as a consequence of the entry into force of the 19th package of EU sanctions against Russia, imposed in consequence to the invasion of Ukraine by the country.
