The authority believes it has the right to control information

I think that power seems to have the power to control information, and if so, to control it and to control those who produce and transmit it. And if so, it has the right to unfavorable information to criticize and halt it.

Donald Trump is surely aware of this, since he suppresses all criticism of himself. If he dislikes any publications or journalists, he criticizes them and sues them. He might as well sue the weather girls for failing forecasts. But the power, power, and money are on his side, so the threat of gagging his mouth can come true. Besides, American politicians have a long tradition of fighting the media, as it has been going on since the first publication of the first American paper in 1690, erstwhile Massachusetts State politician banned its distribution. Later, respective times (1734, 1795, 1971, etc.) American officials, including presidents, banned the publication of articles that criticized or threatened the interests of the United States.

Trump is in a long line fighting the freedom of the press. The point is to endanger her, not necessarily ban everything, due to the fact that even the president of the United States does not have that power. But it is not only in the United States that politicians resent the media. We are not inferior – we have our own. In Poland, PiS politicians besides fight unpopular or unrecognized journalists. late she experienced this Justyna Dobrosz-Oracz from TVP in an interview with erstwhile Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who spoke to a writer about contacts with a Russian agent. In 2023 Jarosław Kaczyński called TVN reporter "Kremla representative" and TVN "organized crime group". A fewer days ago another PiS politician said TVN journalists were “on the phone”. Maciej Zembaczyński of the Civic Coalition insulted 2 journalists, telling them that they were “zero”, and Rafał Trzaskowski in 2020 warned those from TVPiS that “several weeks already (im) remained”. Whatever lies behind the government's fresh decision to put TVN and Polsat on the list of strategical companies, this decision surely limits the ownership rights of both stations and indirectly may affect journalists' activities. Anyway, this decision is an expression of political dominance over independent media. In the U.S., the President-elect is in process with the media, in Poland preventive actions are to halt the media from violating our national interests. And these are defined by politicians, and the ellipse closes.

The temptation to control the media from politicians is enormous. Law and Justice have found that having full (total) power over public media and taking over the local and regional press does not warrant success in elections. Yet, any inactive believe that media power is more crucial than the programme and its implementation.
