This year we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the dramatic events of the Augustowska Oblast. It was a Red Army military operation, NKWD erstwhile LWP and UB in July 1945 in Suwałszczyz. Its main nonsubjective was to exterminate the armed independency underground and pacify the population. This is the largest communist crime in Poland after the end of planet War II. Around 7,000 people were detained during the Augustowska Siege. Over 600 never returned to their homes – they were murdered and buried in an unknown place.
The Cultural Publications Club of the Association of Polish Journalists organized a peculiar meeting, devoted to commemorating the tragedy, combined with the presentation of the book “Oława Augustowska in the Eyes of a Witness”, by Dr Teresa Kaczorowska.
The talk and discussion was led by Dr. Jolanta Hajdas, president of the SDP at the Association's office on Foksal.

The main character of the publication is the prelate priest Stanisław Wysocki – a steadfast priest, a witness to the past and a social fighter for the fact about Oław Augustowska. He was the 1 who, among another things, lost his father and 2 sisters in July 1945, whom the Russians took in front of him with the aid of Polish communists. Teresa Kaczorowska presented the pastoral activities of the priest and the influence of events of years ago on his full life path. Gathered, they could perceive to the evidence of patron Tadeusz Komosa, a student of Fr Wysocki. He stated that the word “courses” of religion did not fit into the heated discussions on the truths of religion during which the priest taught.
Maria Lamers from Krakow, a Katyn granddaughter, besides participated in the event, who composed respective patriotic songs on her guitar. The audience heard, among others, the "A Appeal of the Victims of the Augustine Siege", to which the words were arranged by the heroine of the meeting, and the music by Maria Lamers. The artist told that erstwhile Teresa asked her to compose music to her poem, she went to the library in Krakow. In order to penetrate the atmosphere of those days, she wanted to rent all the positions that are in the facility, concerning the Augustowska Oblast. Never heard of this tragedy before. It turned out that the only books that existed were only by Teresa Kaczorowska. No 1 has written about it but her.

Participants of the gathering besides heard how the author managed to clear Fr Stanisław Wysocki of the speeches about his alleged cooperation with the Polish People's Republic services. The last conflict in his life for honor and fact was already the prelate, he besides won. He was formally cleared. In addition, Teresa Kaczorowska presented a letter, which she received from Ryszard Ślizankiewicz, SB officer of the Department of IV KW MO later WUSW. Slizankiewicz writes that according to his cognition no operational matters were conducted against the priest, he was not a secret associate of SB, he never received specified a proposal, he did not sign anything and he did not inform on anyone.
Dr Teresa Kaczorowska, her book, sent to Ryszard Schnepf, boy of Maximilian Sznepf, commander of the Prague Infantry Regiment, who supported russian forces in this largest extermination action in Augustów Forest. The comment she received can be closed in words: my father was a hero.
Teresa Kaczorowska– Doctor of Humanities, investigator of fresh history, reporter, poet, associate of the Association of Polish Journalists. She is the author of 20 books, including the Katyn crime, Ogław Augustowska, and the second are: “Oława Augustowska” published in English “The Augustów Roundup of July 1945”, “Girls of Augustowska” and “There Were 27” and many press articles and technological papers. Honored by many honours, including the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2010), Bronze (2014) and Silver (2023) Medal of “Feared Culture Gloria Artis”, the Sigismund Krasiński Prize (2025).
Maria Lamers – Universal artist: sings, plays guitar, composes, paints (a postgraduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow), writes songs, performs in the Piwnica pod Baranami. 6. The Voice of Poland (found in the final). Her grandpa was murdered by Russians in a prison camp in Katyn.
