West Pomeranian State Provincial Sanitary Inspector in Szczecin detected microbiological contamination at the end of last week in water from the water supply in Walcz. It has found the presence of, among others, coli bacteria, so that water from the tap is not only not suitable for drinking, but besides for preparing meals, brushing teeth, bathing, washing and washing.
The sanitary crisis affected more than 23,000 residents of Walcz and its surroundings. Local government, sanitary services, fire department and soldiers were active in the aid. As of Saturday 11 October there is the Military Task Force Walcz.
‘In the absence of drinking water in Walcz, the territory of the 3rd Brigade: 14 West Pomeranian Territorial Defence Brigade, 4 The Warmia-Masurian Territorial Defence Brigade and 12 The Wielkopolska Territorial Defence Brigade supply drinking water to the inhabitants of the city" wrote Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence on platform X.
Mobile distribution points were set up, with 4 military tankers with a capacity of 7.3 1000 to 8,000 litres. Points work regular between 7:00 and 7:00.
– On the first day of the action, residents collected 17,000 litres of water from military tanks, and 36,000 gallons of water from the second," informs Archbishop Arkadiusz Sekuła, press spokesperson for 14 West Pomeranian BOT. "This kind of situation shows how crucial the function of territorial defence troops in local communities is. Our task is not only to defend the territory, but, above all, to defend people – their wellness and life" - wrote the territorialists on platform X.
According to Kosiniak-Kamysz, WOT soldiers will supply water to the city's residents until the sanitary and epidemiological station confirms that water from waterworks is suitable for consumption.
