Shooters of the light infantry selection trained respective weeks at the Territorial Defence Army Training Center. All to gain teacher privileges and train soldiers on their own. The coming instructors first practiced shooting with the fresh selection firearm Grot 7.62 × 51 mm.
Training course in Territorial Defence Military Training Centre lasted 2 weeks, as did the erstwhile primary and advanced courses. The teacher candidates at the end had to take the exam. A successful consequence meant gaining the authority to conduct training in the parent units.
Selection sieve
There were respective twelve soldiers willing to participate in the course, but not all of them were qualified. – Prior to the basic stage, soldiers give fitness examinations, as well as a test of military cognition and skills. Only the best qualified for the teacher training – explains Lt. Krzysztof Wójcik, CSWOT press officer. He stresses that teacher training includes not only shooting skills. – The sharpshooter must not only shoot well to objects a fewer 100 metres away, but besides to move, mask, observe, navigate in the field or call for artillery fire – says Lieutenant Wójcik. The curriculum thus included all these elements, as well as issues in methodology – so that soldiers would know how to convey cognition to colleagues.
Carefully and methodically
The training just ended. During the primary part, soldiers learned, among others, to shoot static targets, i.e. to stand inactive shields. At the next advanced stage, they already carried out tactical tasks and fired for alleged reactive targets, including the gongs. The final phase of the course, beyond shooting trainingWhere mobile targets were fired, it besides included the methodology of conducting classes. The territorials, preparing to be an instructor, learned how to pass on cognition and skills to others.
During the final exam, students had to show their navigation, observation, masking, penetration, designation of various targets and shooting skills.
The facilities were about 300 m distant from the shooters. – They were in motion, so giving a customs shot up to respective 100 meters was not an easy task. In addition, I had to take an amendment to the strong wind all the time, due to the fact that on that day there was a strong wind on the ground – says 1 of the soldiers of the 5th Mazovian OT Brigade (names are not given due to the nature of the service).
New Grottoes in Territorials
Future marksmanship instructors for the first time as part of training at CSWOT fired fresh self-repeatable pick-up rifles Grot 7,62 × 51 mm. “This is an additional component which has been diversified by the training program,” says Lieutenant Wójcik.
Manufactured by the weapon mill “The Hunter” Grota 7.62N replace slow outdated, self-repeated constructions specified as SWD (Sniperskaja Wintowka Dragunova). As the territorials have so far utilized C16 FB – A2 caliber 5.56 mm, changing to a fresh kind of weapon from the same household is not a challenge for them. “The sniper firearm is built on the same modular platform of the shooting weapon system, which is presently being utilized by territorial defence troops, so that all soldier can easy usage it”, emphasizes 1 of the sniper instructors from the Territorial Defence Army Training Centre.
As noted by the manufacturer, the arrangement of the fire kind switch, the slide latch, the magazine latch and the tensioner handle is akin in the sniper firearm as in the Grotto 5.56 mm, which facilitates training. The weapon can besides be reconfigured for right- and left-handed shooters (it has a reversible shelling strategy to the right and left).
The selective Grot is available in 2 variants: with a 508 mm barrel, or 20 inches and 406 mm barrel, or 16 inches. The longer barrel firearm is designed for mechanized, motorized and territorial defence troops.
