Territorials prepare for border protection

From 15 to 19 December, the Training Centre of the Territorial Defence Forces in cooperation with the Border defender Specialist Training Centre in Lubań conducted a course of tactics and intervention techniques utilizing coercion measures straight (SPD) for WOT soldiers. respective twelve Territorials from different Territorial Defence Brigades from across the country participated in the training.

The main intent of the training was to prepare the Territorials to service in border areas. According to Article 11(4) and Article 11a of the Homeland Defence Act, soldiers have the right to usage means of direct coercion, among others, to carry out constitutional tasks, specified as protecting independency and borders.

“We have gained quite a few cognition from both law and practice many different situations in which direct coercion may be necessary. In my opinion, this was the best training so far, in which I had the chance to participate and with full awareness I can say that this course prepared me to service in the border area," said the associate of the training from the 2nd Lublin Territorial Defence Brigade.

The five-day training was divided into both a theoretical module in which the laws and applicable modules were discussed. During the course of the classes, the Territorials learned, among others, how to apply direct coercion measures, action and common cover during patrolling, conducting legitimacy, as well as searching and detaining people. Instructors besides devoted a large part of the classes to conducting training on recognition of persons based on cultural differences and their behavioural characteristics and providing pre-medical assistance to persons who have been used/used for the PPD and in cold, hypothermia and frostbite situations.
