Manfred Weber, head of the Group of the European People's organization in the European Parliament, said during the debate in Strasbourg that the European Union must jointly fund the Shield of the East. Not only Poland and the Baltic countries are liable for this - he stressed. The debate was besides attended by the EC chief, Ursula von der Leyen, who belongs to the same political household as Weber.
