Russian atomic submarines are stationed in the North Fleet and the Pacific Fleet. Their movement takes place practically only between these fleets and mainly from the shipyard to the bases. Sometimes atomic submarines enter the Baltic to take part in the conventional parade for Russia's next MW holiday. It is very uncommon for them to call to ports of friendly countries. In June 2024, the K-561 Kazan atomic submarine (830) of task 08851 wrapped a visit of relationship to Cuba, more specifically to Havana. The remaining activity of the atomic fleet takes place underwater and remains a mystery to bystanders. Both large strategical boomers and smaller multi-tasking atomic ships are designed to carry out long underwater missions without having to surface.
