Retired American General Antonio Aguto, in the past liable for coordinating support for Ukraine, was placed at the center of a compromising scandal. As he revealed the Pentagon Inspector General's report, the military left secret military maps on the train while travelling through Poland.
The situation was due to take place in May 2024. As determined by the Military Times portal, General Aguto, who was then the commander of the SAG-U squad supporting Ukraine, did not hold restraint during his visit to Kiev. According to the report, during dinner he drank 2 half-litre bottles of Georgian chakras (40-50 percent alcohol). The next day the effects were to be felt – besides during business meetings with Antony Blinken, U.S. Secretary of State.
In this condition, he would fall respective times, having a concussion. Returning from Kiev was not 1 of the happiest – while passing through Poland, the general's squad left a cylindrical package with maps marked with a "secret" clause on the train. They were only found a day later – fortunately intact.
Aguto assumed work for the incident. He explained his conduct by the "cultural meaning" of alcohol at authoritative dinners, claiming that he had the oral consent of the superior to exceed the standards. However, the issue raises serious questions about safety standards in the structures liable for supporting Ukraine.
