I wonder what images he had in his mind's eye in those last moments, erstwhile he swallowed sleeping pills and turned on the gas. It's hard to guess, due to the fact that Tadeusz Borowski, like no another of his generation, experienced the full totalitarian past of the first half of the 20th century. All the consecutive paths, all the bends, the sublime moments and all the fixations.
