The Polish Armoured Group, and more specifically the holding company Mesko S.A., is proud. In just 5 months, she was delivered to the Swedish Army ordered by her during the September DSEI defence fair in London by portable anti-aircraft Lightning rocket kits. The contract included weapons worth over PLN 1.2 billion.
Developed by Polish engineers from companies Mesko and CRW Telesystem-Meskosupported by scientists from Military method Academy, anti-aircraft strategy Lightning is considered to be 1 of the most modern and most effective structures in its class. With a weight of just over 10 kg, the rocket – 72 mm in diameter – allows combating aircraft, helicopters and drones that are 6.5 km distant and flying at a tallness of 10 m to 4 km.
The advantages of Polish weapons are appreciated not only by manufacture experts, but above all by another armies from around the world. Lightning is 1 of export hits of our armory, as they have reached for them, not only the United States, but besides Norway, Georgia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, Latvia and Belgium.
Last year Sweden besides expressed interest in Polish weapons. In March 2025, the Swedish Defence Procurement Agency (FMV) signed a letter of intent with the PGZ to get an undisclosed number of missiles and launchers, and in June made a preliminary order for them. The final contract, worth over 3 billion Swedish crowns (or about PLN 1.2 billion), was initialled during the September arms fair Defence and safety Equipment global (DSEI) London.
A fewer days ago, FMV reported that Lightning had already gone to the soldiers there, stressing that the fast transportation of weapons was possible through a change of regulations. Therefore, FMV specialists, together with Swedish Army officers, were able to collect the weapons straight from the manufacturer. “The acquisition and transfer of equipment in specified a short time is most likely only possible if you buy a standard product and have good cooperation with the armed forces,” explains Johan Lind, Head of the Lightning task at FMV. In the Swedish army, Polish Lightning received the designation RBS 102.
