Nine guards from Sweden visited the 2nd Lublin Territorial Defence Brigade. Together with WOT volunteers, they took part in a 16-day primary training. However, only part of the abroad delegation decided to take the tactical loop exam on the same terms as the recruits. Swedes amazed the strength of training of Polish territorialists.

This is another visit from the Swedish unit Hemvärnetwhich is equivalent to the Polish WOT. At the end of November, the Lublin brigade hosted a delegation of officers, enlisted officers and privates liable for training, global cooperation and crisis management. During discussion panels, soldiers exchanged experiences and compared military procedures utilized in both countries' crisis management systems. “It was about the experience of the line and staff, so the talks afraid both very applicable training solutions and a broader view of the territorial defence strategy in both countries,” says Captain Marta Gaborek, press spokesperson 2. "Sixteen" amazed Scandinavians

A item of the Swedish delegation's stay was a visit to the barracks in Dęblin. The guests were not only following the course 16-day basic training volunteers for WOT service, but besides for 2 days took an active part in tactics and shooting classes as full participants. However, only 5 Swedes from a nine-man delegation decided to take the final exam, which is to defeat the tactical loop. During the multihour march they had to show service carbine MSBS Grot, loading magazines on time, tactics and working skills utilizing map and field navigation, masking and camouflage or providing medical assistance on the battlefield.

The examination of the completion of the training of the Swedish territories was carried out within the prescribed time. It wasn't easy, though. – During the action with the Grot Szwedzi firearm they asked for additional explanations and “Polish patents” to defeat the tactical loop. They clearly appreciated the level of preparation of our instructors. They said that they were amazed by the strength of the exam, the pace of working with guns and the very advanced motivation of the participants – the spokesperson 2 BOT reported.

Captain Marta Gaborek admits that besides volunteers passing the exam to the WOT were impressed that alongside them, the soldiers from Sweden go in the mud. The presence of abroad guests, as the officer emphasizes, provided additional motivation for them. – The atmosphere was on the 1 hand working and on the another hand almost sporting. The loop has gained a bit of the character of global competitions – adds spokesperson 2 BOT.

Territorial alliance

Sweden, which since the 19th century remained a non-alignment state, established its National defender more than 80 years ago. Its strategy and emergency consequence strategy is based on activities in tiny teams, specialisations and long-term training planning. WOT, as a young formation, focuses on younger volunteers, strength of training and fast pace of building basic competences. “Swedish frequently emphasize that Polish “sixteen” could be an interesting case survey for many countries in terms of pace, commitment, especially among young people, and results. They have repeatedly emphasized the difference in the age of recruits in Sweden and Poland. We have far more young people curious in military service, says Captain Gaborek.

The last point of the five-day visit was to participate in the solemn oath of the fresh soldiers of the Lublin OT brigade, which took place on 29 November in the barracks in Lublin Majdanek.

The cooperation with the Swedish National defender was established in 2017. A year later, the first visit to Poland took place. During these 8 years, Swedish territorialists had already hosted 2 BOT 13 times (in November last year they participated in the Lublin section competitions). The Polish delegation went to Sweden 10 times, among others, last August, erstwhile the territorialists participated in competitions organized by Hemvärnet. For 2026, 2 Swedish soldiers visited Poland (participation in field training and crisis management consultations) and 1 journey from Lublin territories to Sweden (for competitions and training from the crisis consequence area).
