Sweden: Russia’s threat is increasing

We are dealing with more offensive secret actions of Russia – the Swedish SAPO peculiar services present stressed in a study on safety threats. Russian services have commissioned, among others, documentation of protected facilities in Sweden.

The survey covering the period 2025-2026 noted that the Russian request to get knowledge, technology and products in order to strengthen its capabilities is "unlimited".

According to SAPO chief Charlotte von Essen, "So far Sweden has not been exposed to extended attempts at sabotage".

– However, we have witnessed attempts at destructive Russian cyber attacks, and we know that the intelligence threat from Russia is high," von Essen stressed.

In turn, SAPO chief of operations Frederik Hallstroem revealed that “Russia has commissioned agents to map and paper protected facilities in Sweden.

China and Iran have been identified as another countries threatening Sweden's security.
