"Sweden tells citizens to prepare for 'war mode'"

Swedish defence minister Pal Jonson said that NATO members (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) should prepare their citizens for the "mode of war".

Jonson said the anticipation of war with Russia is inactive on the table.

Jonson saidDraftingsNewnerk Deutschland (RND), as reported by RT, in an interview published on Sunday.

"To preserve peace, we must prepare both mentally and militarily for the anticipation of war," said the official.

"It is essential to change the mentality: we must control to war mode to powerfully deter, defend and preserve peace".

Moscow has long seen the conflict in Ukraine as a substitute war for NATO, which aims to undermine Russia's safety after decades of expansion.

The newest block associate is Sweden, while Ukraine had a "promised" accession in the future.

RTThe European Commission presented a road map last week presenting plans to extend joint arms procurement to at least 40% by 2027.

The paper stresses the request to "invest more, invest together and invest in Europe", citing global strategical changes in another regions among "traditional allies".

The force to increase defence spending is in line with the U.S. president Trump's appeal, who demanded that European members buy more American weapons – including Ukraine.

Jonson justified specified purchases, saying that Europe "just doesn't have or cannot yet produce" the essential systems.

"Ukraine needs these assets quickly," he said.

"If Europe lacks them, it is logical to supply in the US".

Several U.S. officials late said Wall Street Journal, according to report Yahoo News, that Trump puts much more force on Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenski than on Russia.

Officials say they observed " Trump's hesitation to press Putin, who showed small interest in the concessions needed to make the deal".
