Hospital The territory in Oleśnica, 1 of the most crucial gynecological and obstetric institutions of the region, did not extend its contract with Gizela Jagielska, a doctor associated with the most dramatic abortions of fresh years. It was Jagielska herself who informed the media that the infirmary had resigned. The facility did not uncover the reasons for the decision, which raises questions about the future direction of the branch and whether another doctors with akin views would appear in it.
Gizela Jagielska became a figure that was recognized primarily by her late abortion. As a consequence – April 2025 – the prosecution received a notification of the anticipation of committing a crime (in accordance with Article 152 of the Criminal Code). However, the prosecution dismissed the proceedings, considering that the abortions carried out did not show the signs of the forbidden act.
Six months ago, Gizela Jagielska left the position of Deputy manager of the Regional infirmary squad in Oleśnica. At the end of December, her husband, Łukasz Jagielski, head of the obstetric-gynecological ward, will lose his occupation with her.
As Jagielska admitted in an interview with “Gazeta Wyborcza”, the matrimony prepared offers to extend the contracts, but their deputies made their own proposals to the directors.
"They deliberately blew us out of our positions. The people we taught took over what we practically created from scratch for 10 years. I would never do specified a thing myself” – The doctor said.
Jagielska assures that from 1 January she plans to start working in another hospital, where she will be able to proceed her medical practice. Jagielski's departure does not mean ending the profound moral concerns in Oleśnica. On the contrary, the staff they raised and trained themselves remains in the hospital, which will consequence in continued abortion.
For Jagielski and her husband to start working in a fresh facility may mean further career development, which may again entail further ethical and media challenges. It does not solve the fundamental problem – protecting the lives of the smallest, most susceptible patients.
Every life is simply a gift – delicate, unique and holy. all decision in the hospital, all procedure, all minute with a patient has a real effect on this gift. Therefore, it is so essential that in all medical facility the values of human life and dignity are respected, from the first moments of existence to the natural end.
