Anti-drone training only in Poland

Polish soldiers will not go to Ukraine for training on the shooting down of unmanned aircraft," said Colonel Joanna Klejszmit, the press spokesperson of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces. The military so denies media reports suggesting that Polish soldiers will be trained in this area beyond the east border.

"In connection with questions about the location of planned drone training and cooperation between experts from Poland and Ukraine, we inform that advanced discussions are presently underway between experts from both countries regarding the in-depth cooperation in the area of drone and anti-drone systems. All these activities are to take place in Poland" said the Ministry of Defence present in a communication published on platform X.

The war in Ukraine showed the increasing importance of drones on the modern battlefield. For over 3 years, the Ukrainian army has been resisting many air strikes, utilizing a full arsenal of available weapons. Experience gained has enabled the creation of a multi-layered air defence system.

President Volodymyr Zelenski, commenting on the nightly attack of Russian drones on Poland, noted that systems specified as the American Patriot are besides costly to effectively counter massive attacks of inexpensive drones. Ukraine – as he stressed – is ready to share its experience with allies.

Drone trainings covering all WP soldiers and young people, including military students and uniformed class students, were mentioned in the Sejm yesterday by Deputy Prime Minister, National Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish.
