Recruitment problem does not occur
Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, the head of the MON, told the Sejm that there was no request to reconstruct compulsory enlistment to the military. He stressed that there are now a large number of people willing to join the army, indicating adequate volunteers.
He added that Poland does not have a problem with recruitment, on the contrary – the interest in military service is high, which requires increased limits in the reserve and active service. Kosiniak-Kamysz besides stressed that the Polish army's numbers are being increased, which allows to rise its abilities.
Currently, the number of soldiers is 198 000, of which more than 140 000 are professional soldiers, and more than 20 000 are trained in voluntary military service. Despite the fact that compulsory military service has been suspended in Poland since January 2010, this subject is periodically returned in discussions, generating large controversy, especially in the context of sex equality, which in this case is violated.
Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz besides informed about the ongoing modernization of the border barrier, indicating its current leak in many places. However, he stressed that the dam itself was not adequate to halt military aggression, so it was planned to increase the presence of troops at the border. The defence minister besides noted that securing safety is simply a precedence for Donald Tusk's government, and threats traditionally come from the same side, which has not changed for hundreds of years.
