Jahja Sinwar, known for his violent policy towards Israel and his close ties to the armed wing of Hamas, is 1 of the most wanted terrorists. Sinwar climbed the leading position in Hamas after many years of activity, including after being released from Israeli prison as an exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit in 2011. Since then, he has been considered a central figure in Hamas' activities, including in the last wave of armed attacks on Israel that erupted in October 2024.
