During his visit to the Netherlands, Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever described his country as a "transitionary creation" and criticized the decays of the erstwhile Netherlands, calling it "the top disaster in the past of the region". He called for close cooperation with his neighbours and economical and migration reforms to increase the competitiveness of the region in Europe.
