A ballistic rocket launched from Iran flew into Turkey's airspace, after which it was shot down by NATO's anti-aircraft and rocket defence systems, deployed in the east Mediterranean, reported the Ministry of Defence of Turkey on Monday.
The Ministry has ensured that all essential measures to prevent threats to the territory and airspace of Turkey are taken ‘strongly and without hesitation’.
This is the 4th specified incidental since the beginning of the American-Israeli war with Iran. After erstwhile interceptions of Iranian missiles by NATO systems, authorities in Ankara protested and issued warnings at Tehran. Iran has always denied its armed forces firing missiles and proposing Turkey to conduct a joint investigation to explain the circumstances of the incident.
