New Minister of Justice in Donald Tusk's government became Adam Bodnar. I heard on the radio that he was a man delicate to human harm due to his father's experience. The father's Bodnar household are Ukrainians. They were resettled in 1947 as part of Operation “Wisła” from Rakowa village close Sanok to Earth Recovered.
I remind you that already 6 years ago, Mr Bodnar, during the ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of Operation Wisła, which took place in Przemyśl, said, "The reprivatisation process has never been completed and cannot stay until there is simply a universal reprivatisation act in force to return the property to displaced persons." At the same ceremony, the words came out of his mouth: “Under global law it is then a standard that, after leaving their place of residence, persons can return to their homes. This did not happen here’
It's worth recalling 3 fresh events.
First. On 28 November 2023 2 messages of the Institute of National Memory were released, 1 signed by the Main Commission for the Pursuit of Crimes against the Polish Nation, the another by the Head of the Branch Commission for the Pursuit of Crimes against the Polish Nation in Rzeszów. Both included information about the cancellation of the historical investigation into the 1947 “Wisła” action decision. The explanatory memorandum states, among another things, "The explanatory memorandum states: "The decision on the action "Wisła" was about carrying out a military operation aimed at combating CNS-UPA units that terrorized and murdered residents of south-eastern Poland. It was intended to guarantee the safety of citizens. In order to defend them, while at the same time cutting the UPA from the supply and intelligence support of its residents, the population was evacuated from areas where military operations were to be carried out. It is clear from the findings of the investigation that resettlement was of a preventive and protective nature. Their goal was not to persecute any cultural group, much little destruct it. Nor has the investigation shown that erstwhile adopting a resolution on resettlement actions, rights or abuses of duties or public or private benefit are exceeded."
Second. In Virtual Poland the text of Paweł Figurski, Patrick Słowik "The 5th Demolition of Poland" on the reprivatisation of public forests for Ukrainians and Lemkos has been ongoing for respective years. In general, it is about the transfer of Polish forests as compensation for properties lost just after planet War II as part of the resettlements carried out by the then Polish authorities. According to the WP text, decisions in these cases are made in bulk.
Third. On 1 December 2023 an open letter was sent to the marshals of the Sejm and the legislature of the Republic of Poland – Szymon Holownia and Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, condemning “the decision to discontinue the investigation into the designation of the action “Wisła” as a crime.” Among another things, it reads: “The reason for the decision is for us Polish citizens to legitimize propaganda and anti-Ukrainian narratives in the Democratic Republic of the Communist Republic for years perpetuated in Poland by nationalist and nationalist communities, and especially since 2014 the propaganda of Putinian Russia... It is unacceptable in a democratic state to disregard civilian rights, to violate government for mercantile political needs. Condemning the decision and justification issued by the IPN on the action “Wisła” we stand on the side of all those for whom respect for fact and an simple sense of justice are important.”
More crucial than the letter itself is who signed it: Tyma, Engelking, Friszke, Gebert, Holland, Libionka, Łuczywo, Illg, Leipzig-Oneszkiewicz (Agnieszka), Onyszkiewicz (Wojciech), Kuron (Danuta), Motyka, Zachwatowicz-Wajda, Wutttke, Rottenberg, Szejnert, Wolff, Bujak, Kuromiya, Paczkowski, Grabowski, vocalist (Ruta), Halbersztadt, Gluza (Orodek Karta) or King (b. KPN). This letter was besides signed by the Secretary General of the Slovak Society in Poland Ludomir Molitoris.
In my opinion, the full action is an insolent effort to sanction claims directed at Poland, not only by descendants of those who were resettled under Operation Wisła. I besides think there will be a case of alleged undecided property. Adam Bodnar, in my opinion, as the boy of a displaced person, will not be nonsubjective in this very crucial subject for you.
